A mountainous Caribbean Island, the Isla de Providencia forms part of the Archipelago of San Andrés. The maximum elevation rises 360m above sea level and the Providencia Island also remains with a lot of history. Once the site of a Puritan English colony, then later taken by Spain, the infamous pirate Henry Morgan used the island of Providencia as a base, therefore there are legends that much of his hidden treasure remains on the island. It is a fascinating tropical island, lush in rich vegetation and nature. The Providencia Island is home to the national park, the Old Providence McBean Lagoon, along with the Tayrona National Park and the Rosario and San Bernando Corals.
