Costalegre, Jalisco, Mexico, August 22, 2006- Isabel Goldsmith-Patiño’s Las Alamandas Resort today announced the official start of “Sea Turtle Season” – projected to begin the final week of September and run through the first week of December 2006.

Each year, thousands of Sea Turtles make their way through the warm waters of the Pacific to lay their eggs on Mexico’s beaches.  Because the Sea Turtle’s reproductive cycle obeys lunar faces, a great number of these female turtles come ashore in the region home to the pristine beaches of Las Alamandas Resort.  Along with the careful assistance of a local biologist, Las Alamandas then collects the eggs and places them in a natural incubatory environment safe from predators (including fisherman) that historical kill more than 80% of the egg population.

What results is spectacular sea turtle hatching season witnessed by a handful of awestruck Las Alamandas guests, most predominantly during the months of September through November.  

During this period, hotel guests gather to release these newly born turtles into the ocean during a sunset celebration on the beach.  The turtles are often named, photos are taken, and a most memorable and magical experience is had by all. This year, Las Alamandas will shatter its record by saving and releasing nearly 4,000 eggs!
