The typical mexican-exotic holiday invokes images of warm breezes, romantic seaside restaurants, and sipping exotic "umbrella drinks" on picture perfect, beautiful beaches. Sure, we have all that. .....but if your ideal vacation involves a little something more adventurous, you are welcome in Puerto Vallarta! A beautiful and international tourist resort, known for aquatic sports, fishing (especially for sharks), hunting and luxurious facilities it is the major port of the Mexican state of Jalisco. It reportes an estimated population of 176,000 and about 5 million overnight stays by tourists (it is also a popular spring break hotspot). Puerto Vallarta before acquiring worldwide recognition as a tourist destination was a traditional village. In 1963, it became famous worldwide after director John Huston decided to make a movie version of Tennessee Williams's play The Night of the Iguana in what was then a quiet fishing village. During the filming, the fotoreporters had a field day covering Elizabeth Taylor's scandalous affair with Richard Burton, as well as the constant tension between Huston and the film's four stars. The consequent publicity helped to attract foreign investors in the 1970s, which resulted in the substantial expansion of Puerto Vallarta to its present dimension. Puerto Vallarta's outer Jungle areas, is also the location where the movie Predator was filmed.
