Limerick is a medieval city situated in the province of Munster, in the Midwest of the Republic of Ireland. The city is Ireland's third largest. County Limerick is a place of quiet beauty and rural charm that lies on the River Shannon and meets the Atlantic Ocean. You will enjoy many outdoor activities, like golfing and hunting. Limerick City is one of the country's main tourist destinations. The city is the first to have 'Street Ambassadors', people designated to help tourists around! Adare Village, located a few miles from Limerick, is said to be the prettiest village in Ireland. Limerick has a whole range of visitor attractions: many 12th century churches can be found, as well as a fine collection of Irish and European religious art (in the Hunt Museum), King John's Castle, St. Mary's Cathedral, the University of Limerick, the Georgian house and gardens, Treaty Stone and the Foynes Flying Boat Museum. The Curraghchase Forest Park was the habitat of Neolithic Man and one of Ireland's most important archaeological sites. Limerick is only a 15 minute drive from Shannon Airport.
