Along the west coast of Mexico, between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo lies a very extraordinary place, a stretch of unspoiled bliss named Costalegre. With its stunning beaches, tropical rainforests, freshwater lagoons, exotic birds and wildlife, Costalegre has been appropriately nicknamed "The Mexican Riveria". This ecologically protected region is now a trendy tourist destination due to its spectacular beaches. Spanning 150 kilometers, Costalegre boasts a number of beautiful beaches such as Majahuas, Playa Perula, Chamela, Careyes, El Tecuan, Tenacatita, Boca de Iguanas, La Manzanilla, El Tamarindo, Cuastecomate, Melaque and Barra de Navidad. Miles upon miles of palm trees line the land just inside the coastal shores. Jungle covered mountains border golden sand beaches. This area is one of the most exclusive areas in Mexico, where celebrities often come to get away from their frenetic lives and the indiscreet lenses of paparazzis. The area of Costalegre is mostly recommended f you are looking for relaxation rather than nightlife, as it tends to become rather quiet and serene at night. Driving through Costalegre is very attractive and picturesque, going along quaint Mexican villages, many different plantations and jungle. Different species of animals and exotic birds can be spotted as well.
