Tamarindo, Costa Rica
Localizado en la costa del Pacífico Norte en Costa Rica, en la Provincia de Guanacaste. Los visitantes llegan a Tamarindo para practicar surfing y realizar una forma de eco-turismo. Los habitantes residentes son solamente 2,000, mientras que el número de turistas puede llegar a 5,000 personas durante la temporada alta. Tamarindo es un lugar muy famoso por ser uno de los destinos más importantes en Costa Rica para el surfing. Sus olas pueden alcanzar hasta 12 pies, especialmente en la desembocadura del estuario. Aunque las altísimas olas no están presentes por toda la playa, la corriente normalmente es muy fuerte. Desde Noviembre hasta Abril, una de las actividades más eco-turísticas que se realizan en Tamarindo, es la observación de las tortugas laúd cuando preparan sus nidos. Además es posible realizar muchas otras actividades como buceo, snorkelling, surfing, zip-lining, viajes al esturario, cabalgatas a caballo, pesca deportiva, kayak con dirección al estuario - que da la oportunidad de observar la vida salvaje, con monos, papagayos y cocodrilos. Ciertamente se pueden experimentar otras actividades que no sean acuáticas, como por ejemplo la visita a los volcanes, géisers y aguas termales con excursiones diurnas al Parque Nacional Rincón de la Vieja. Además para aquellos a quienes les gusta la vida de la selva, hay tours dedicados a ellos. La vida nocturna del pueblo es bastante movida, con locales donde se presentan músicos al vivo.
