Tamarindo, Costa Rica
Located on the northern pacific coast of Costa Rica in the Province of Guanacaste, visitors come to Tamarindo for surfing and eco-tourism. With full time residents of only 2000, tourists can exceed 5000 people during the high season. Tamarindo is best known as one of Costa Rica's top surfing destinations. Their waves can get as high as 12 feet, especially near the mouth of the estuary. Although not everywhere along the long beach have exceptional waves, currents can be pretty strong. Watching leatherback turtles during their nesting season during month of November to April at night is one of the many eco-friendly activities in Tamarindo. Visitors could also do diving, snorkelling, body surfing, zip-lining, estuary trips, horseback riding, sport fishing, line fishing and also kayaking up the estuary with the opportunities to see wildlife, from monkeys to parrots to crocodiles. Not only sea activities are available here. Visitors can take daytrips and visits volcanoes, geysers and hot springs at the Rincon de la Vieja National Park. For those jungle enthusiasts, a rain canopy tour would be more suitable to your taste. The town also has a very lively nightlife, and features many local musicians on a regular basis.
