Kenmare, Ireland
The city of Kenmare, situated in Kenmare Bay, is at the junction of the Iveragh Peninsula and the Beara Peninsula, where the Roughty River flows into the sea. Founded in 1670, the unique charm and beauty of the town remains unchanged. The Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara are two of the more famous Irish tourist attractions. The Ring of Kerry, known all over the world, is one of the most dramatic landscapes in the country and makes a most exciting day tour. Along the 175km route you will find picturesque villages, a lot of historical landmarks and many sandy beaches. Kenmare is located in one of the most natural, unspoilt environments in Europe. To the north is Killarney National Park, 10,000 hectares of woodland mountains, with spectacular views over the lakes of Killarney. Kenmare is the perfect place to enjoy gourmet food, superb accommodation, walks on the mountains, cruises on the bay, horse riding, golfing, fishing, touring or soaking up the best of music! Regarding the transportation, there are daily bus-services from Kenmare to Killarney, and also a daily bus-service to Cork in the summer months (N71 route via Molls Gap and Ladies View).
