The history of Datça Peninsula faces the sea. The first known group of people on the land of Datça was the Karians. When they settled here, it was 4000 years ago … Then Myceneans and Dorians established civilizations under the sun of Datça. They were followed by the Lidians, Persians, Alexander the Great, Rhodesians, Rome and Byzantium. After the territory started to be ruled by Ottomans, in 1909 it was given the name Reşadiye. Knidos was the most famous among the cities established by Dorians who came from North and settled in the islands of Aegean. It was one of the most important ports of the antique era. Trade ships that were caught in harsh winds would take shelter in this protected port. Today, those who have the passion for Blue Journey which departs in the months of spring, climb the silent footsteps of the antique theatre built next to the sea, and return to their boats with their laps full of yellow white giant daffodils with heights reaching to those of people.Knidos has been there for 2500 years just like a gift to the sea… where Datça Peninsula offers its daffodils to the waters and where the blue meets the wind…
